Here at Yumbutter, we are uniquely privileged to have a front-row seat to the best Instagram food trend since overnight oats. It’s a thing of beauty – that expertly crafted swirl of nut butter, artfully arranged atop a protein pancake or toast; that golden masterpiece adorning a bowl of oats or yogurt or banana nicecream; the magnum opus of spreadable condiments. It is – The Drizzle.
Historical figures throughout the ages have worked hard to perfect the elusive Drizzle. As Abraham Lincoln once said, “Give me 6 hours to take a beautiful food photo for the ‘gram, and I’ll spend the first 4 perfecting the drizzle.” But with today’s unique mix of technology, inspiring vegan recipes, and nut butter pouches with convenient pour spouts, we believe 2016 will be remembered as The Year of The Drizzle.
And we have the proof to back it up. You think you’re just making a spinach-almond milk-spirulina-hemp smoothie bowl with gluten-free granola and that nobody notices the steadiness of your drizzling hand. But we see it, and we applaud you. You rack up comments like:
“Girl that drizzle!”
“Drizzy game on point”
The perfect Drizzle is something only a select few achieve, and those who achieve it also typically fall into the categories of “Breakfast Goals” and “People We Want to Be Friends With.” As a team that deeply believes in the power of food to nourish and to build connections, we can’t help but feel like we’ve found “our people” as we see The Drizzle rise to social media stardom.
To quote the great Robert Frost, “In three words, I can sum up everything I’ve learned about Instagram. That drizzle tho.”
