The Road Trip Snacks
The key to a satisfying road trip snacks stash is to cover the key road trip craving groups: protein, fruits and veggies, crunchy/salty, and sweet treats. Some ideas:
Jerky, grass fed beef sticks, or meat bars like Epic or Krave
Your favorite nuts or seeds
Nut butters, especially in a container that makes it easy to combine with items from other categories
Tuna or salmon in a can or pouch (wild caught or sustainable line-caught, please!)
A really solid sandwich on a hearty, sprouted bread is hard to beat in a pinch. Skip the tomatoes to avoid soggy bread.
Fruits & Veggies
You can really get wild here. Grab whatever fruits and veggies you’re into, but the best options are those that don’t create any waste. You don’t want to find an apple core between your seats in two months. Some ideas to get you started:
Peeled oranges or clementines
Diced avocados or homemade guacamole
Carrot sticks, celery, mini peppers, cherry tomatoes
Air-popped popcorn with sea salt
Rice or seed crackers
70% (or more) dark chocolate. It’s basically a necessity.
Your favorite bars (we like Ona, GoMacro, and Perfect Bars)
Homemade muffins or a heartier cookie, like these breakfast cookies
BALLZ. It’s hard to beat energy balls for a tasty, protein-and-healthy-fat packed snack. Just try to steer clear of any that are totally fat-based if you’re not bringing a cooler. We could give you lots of recipes, but go ahead and follow your own heart with this easy method from Food52.
